iQmedia Implements Terminal Services Network at Thurgood Marshall Federal Courthouse
In the spring of 2007 Cauldwell Wingate and iQmedia completed the installation and configuration of their field offices located at the Thurgood Marshall Federal Courthouse at 40 Centre Street. iQmedia was hired to develop a solution for Cauldwell Wingate which incorporated a secure and flexible design for remote users, while providing secure internet access for Bovis and the GSA.
iQmedia designed and installed a Secure Windows 2003 Terminal Services solution. This allowed users to access files and email over a secure VPN to their main office located in Midtown Manhattan. iQmedia will also provide onsite technical support for 40 Centre Street for the project duration which is expected to be completed by November 2010.
Cauldwell Wingate has been retained as construction manager for major infrastructure upgrades at the Thurgood Marshall U.S. Courthouse, located at 40 Centre Street. This New York City Landmark consists of a 6-story base in addition to a 26-story tower. Beginning in Spring 2007, The GSA will initiate three critical phases including: selective bulk demolition and hazardous material abatement; complete exterior renovation; followed by mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installation. The last phase of the project will also include interior construction and MEP infrastructure upgrades. The project will also include sustainable, or "green" elements, including a rain water harvest tank, a possible green room, recycling of demolition and construction waste and the reuse of existing finishes.
The Thurgood Marshall U.S. Courthouse rehabilitation project at 40 Centre is listed in New York Construction’s 2006-07 Top Projects Started list. The project is led by construction manager Bovis with general contractor Cauldwell Wingate. The 33-story, 720,000 square foot tower is home to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and offices for the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
